Thornley House

Thornley House is an almshouse sheltered housing accommodation suitable for those over the age of 55 with a physical, social or financial need.

Having undergone a full refurbishment to modernise the building in April 2021, Thornley House offers 12 luxury self-contained apartments, set in the stunning grounds of Sherburn House.  These beautiful one bed, ground and first floor apartments are accessible via a secure door with a video intercom system.  There is off street parking available and access to the beautiful gardens, a courtyard and a communal lounge which is ideal for events and small gatherings, all within a five-minute drive of Durham City.

Each apartment benefits from fitted kitchen units with electric hob and oven, carpets, boiler and shower room and is finished with modern décor throughout.

Service charges for general maintenance and gardening are included in the rent.

Communal areas are cleaned by the housekeeping team on a weekly basis.

Sheltered Housing

Other services such as cleaning services are available on request at an additional cost.

We currently have four apartments available in Thornley House, three are on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
