Choose retirement living in the North East
At Sherburn House Charity, we really understand both the challenge of choosing a retirement home, and the potential for the joy that this can bring. But choosing where to spend your North East retirement years doesn’t have to be all stress.
On our extensive grounds at Sherburn House, you’ll find all the amenities you need for your day-to-day life, including a beautiful orangery to relax in, a purpose-built lounge, a cinema for seeing new releases and classics alike, a hair salon for touching up your style, and your own bar to socialise in after spending the day admiring the scenery on our beautiful grounds.
Sherburn House has now won the award of ‘Beautiful Durham’ in the ‘Best Sheltered Accommodation’ category multiple times, and if you arrange a visit with ourselves, you will be hard pressed not to see why. 15 acres of professionally maintained and manicured grounds surround the fully restored Victorian era buildings and 12th century chapel. Our lawns to the front are cared for weekly, and the rear of the home features a beautiful walled garden to enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful rural environment in which we are situated.
Away from the house, there is also the ‘mile walk’ nature track which enters the ancient woodlands behind Beddell House, offering breath-taking views of both the countryside and the beautiful wildlife that calls these woods home. Expect to see rare birds, pheasants, squirrels and the occasional deer as you enjoy the peaceful silence away from the hustle and bustle of city living. Should you choose to venture out for shopping or socialising, there are frequent and active bus links into the beautiful and historic Durham city!
