November round up of activities
Early into November, residents gathered in the orangery to make beautiful tissue paper poppies as part of our Remembrance Day crafts, sparking conversations and memories of wartime experiences. This theme continued with a lively wartime sing-along, featuring classics such as Que Sera Sera, Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye, and It’s a Long Way to Tipperary.
As Remembrance Day approached, we welcomed performances from wartime singers. D-Day Dolly visited, followed by Colin Lynch both bringing nostalgia, joy, and musical connection to the home.
Mid-month, residents enjoyed a delicious food tasting session, where minced venison pie and dauphinoise potatoes were voted the favourites. We also embraced the chilly weather for some revitalising fresh air during 1–1 time with Lenny, and later that afternoon enjoyed another uplifting musical performance from singer Chris Johns.
Festive spirit arrived in full force during the final week of November. Residents decorated Christmas trees, adding their personal touches to the orangery and dining room. Crafting continued with joyful sessions of Christmas card making and decorating chocolate bars, all in preparation for our annual Christmas Fayre.
The month concluded on a high with the Christmas Fayre, which was a fantastic success raising valuable funds for resident activities and bringing together residents, families, and staff in a warm celebration of community and festive cheer.
