The Queen’s Green Canopy

As part of the celebrations for the Queens Platinum Jubilee in April we took part in ‘Plant a tree for the Jubilee’.

Plant a tree for the Jubilee’ was a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. However, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth ll on 8th September 2022,  His Majesty The King,  extended The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.

Sherburn House Charity is proud to be part of helping to create a living legacy with over a million other trees planted in Her Majesty’s name across the nation during the first planting season, October 2021 to March 2022. The extension of the QGC initiative will build on this legacy and serve as a lasting tribute to Her Majesty’s extraordinary service to her country and her people.

The interactive map created by The Queen’s Green Canopy can be accessed here. You will be able to find a pin located near Sherburn House, Durham which shows The Himalayan Birch tree we planted in the grounds. This tree was specifically chosen to blend in with the stunning surroundings and planted on the lawn, central to all accommodation on site for everyone to enjoy.

We have also ordered an official plaque to display in front of the tree from The Royal British Legion Industries.
